Kings XI Punjab headed by Yuvraj Singh faced their second defeat in the IPL Cricket, the first being defeated by Chennai Super Kings and now by Rajasthan Royals. On the other hand, it was the first victory for Rajasthan Royals headed by Shane Warne in the IPL Cricket. They had lost to Delhi Daredevils earlier.

Kings XI Punjab won the toss and elected to bat first. Yuvraj Singh scored a decent 57 runs off 34 balls (6 boundaries and 3 sixers). Sangakkara made a good start but could not exceed 20 runs (strike rate of 250.00). The spin legend Shane Warne claimed 3 crucial wickets of Yuvraj Singh, Sangakkara and James Hopes. Shane Warne was also the most economical bowler of the Rajasthan Royals Team. At the end of 20 overs, Kings XI Punjab scored 166 runs for the fall of 8 wickets.

Chasing the target of 167 runs, the Rajasthan Royals started their Innings. It was Shane Watson who was responsible for the victory of Rajasthan Royals. Ravindra Jadeja, the youngster partnered with Watson and scored 36 runs off 25 balls (5 boundaries and 1 sixer). Shane Watson scored an unbeaten 76 runs off 49 balls (5 boundaries and 5 sixers). Rajasthan Royals surpassed their target in 18.1 overs with fall of 4 wickets and tasted their first victory in the IPL Cricket. Shane Watson was declared the Man of the Match.
