Mumbai Indians mark their sixth victory

Mumbai Indians headed by Sachin Tendulkar marked their sixth consecutive victory after defeating the Deccan Chargers by 25 runs. It was the fifth straight defeat for the Deccan Chargers who now have only 4 points in the 11 matches played so far.

Deccan Chargers won the toss and elected to bowl first. The Mumbai Indians started their Innings thru their openers – Jayasuriya and Tendulkar. Jayasuriya scored a quick 36 runs off 15 balls (6 boundaries and 2 sixers). Tendulkar scored 23 runs off 19 balls. Nayar scored 38 runs off 24 balls. At the end of 20 overs, the Mumbai Indians scored 178 runs for the fall of 7 wickets.

Chasing the target score of 179 runs, the Deccan Chargers started their Innings with a poor start. Gilchrist was dismissed for a meager 13 runs and Afridi for a duck. Venugopal Rao took the responsibility and played an excellent Innings by scoring 57 runs off 38 balls (4 boundaries and 3 sixers). Though his performance brought hopes to his team, it ended up in vain. At the end of 20 overs, the Deccan Chargers scored 153 runs for the fall of 7 wickets. Bravo was declared the Man of the Match. Mumbai Indians won the Match by 25 runs.
