Latest Domestic and International Cricket news

With the English domestic Cricket season nearly finished let’s take a look at who has performed and who has not this season, in the County Championship (4 day game) it is Nottinghamshire who with only one game left and after a crushing defeat of Surrey in their last game by an innings and 143 runs sit comfortably at the top of the pile with an eight point cushion and if they avoid defeat in the last game of the season they should be crowned champions.

Surrey however have been relegated to Division 2 after this latest defeat and now have gone all season without a win and some much needed rethinking to be done before next season I think.
In the battle for promotion from Div 2 it is a two horse race with both Worcestershire and Warwickshire fighting it out for the title but with Warwickshire needing only three points in their last game they look likely Champions.

In the one day format Sussex were crowned Div 1 Champions after a dramatic last ball win over Nottinghamshire who incidentally could of also won the title but it was a fitting way for Skipper Chris Adams to retire with a trophy in his last game of competitive Cricket.

Internationally the big news is regarding Bangladesh’s decision to ban 13 players for playing in the ICL for a maximum of ten years each which has left New Zealand’s tour next month looking like they are playing a brand new team from top to bottom.
