Ladbrokes Cricket Bet – Alistair Cook
Ladbrokes Cricket Bet – England’s opening batsman, Alastair Cook, has refuted claims that the England batting order is not up to scratch ahead of the second test against the West Indies.
It is unlikely though that there will be any changes made at this moment in time as the only batting cover they have is in Owais Shah.
Cook, the unofficial vice-captain for the Test series, was the first player dismissed during the humiliating 51 all out second innings, the West Indies went on to win by an innings with over a day’s play to spare.
Cook has struggled to regain his impressive early form for England, the seven Test centuries he scored before his 23rd birthday has only previously been bettered by the legendary batsmen Sir Donald Bradman and Sachin Tendulkar at that same age. His last Test hundred came in Sri Lanka back in December 2007.
Cook brushed aside comments that the team became distracted by the Indian Premier League auction midway through the Jamaica Test, and stated that the team are always focused on the job in hand and are not pre-occupied with events elsewhere.
The very same batting order collapsed in Adelaide during the last Ashes tour, and were also dismissed for just 81 runs against Sri Lanka in Galle last winter.
Without the presence of a head coach, following the dismissal of Peter Moores, captain Andrew Strauss has called on his players to take greater responsibility for their personal performances and that means that there is nowhere to hide for the starting eleven that were bowled out in just over two hours.
The England team do not have much time to reflect on the chaotic events in the first Test at Sabina Park as the second game of the four-match series gets under way in Antigua on Friday.
It would appear that if any changes were to be made to the team selection then Ian Bell who is currently out of form could be the one to make way for Owais Shah. Ladbrokes Cricket Bet
