The 2009 Indian Premier League (IPL) season began on the 18th April this year and will run right through until the end of May 2009. Already into week 3 of the season, there are a number of highlights from the previous weeks.

Two matches were played on the 18th April with the first being between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings. By just 19 runs, the Mumbai Indians were victorious. The second match saw the Royal Challengers Bangalore win more convincingly by 75 runs against the Rajasthan Royals. Also victorious in week 1 across other matches were the Delhi Daredevils, Deccan Chargers, Chennai Super Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore. Week 2 ran from the 25th April to the 1st May and the results from these matches have helped to gain an insight into who is looking good at the moment! With eight games gone, ranking first is the Chennai Super Kings closely followed by the Rajasthan Royals. In third position at the moment are the Delhi Daredevils and the fourth spot this week goes to the Deccan Chargers. Fifth and sixth positions are headed up by Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kings XI Punjab and finally, seventh ranking is Mumbai Indians with eighth going to Kolkata Knight Riders.
