Glenn Mcgrath

Glenn Donald Mcgrath has to be one of the only few fast bowlers who will be remembered for being able to hit the same line and length consistently time and time again and of course for his ability to give out some serious sledging as it is known in Cricket. Most notably with Kevin Pieterson in the last ashes series were he rattled the Englishman throughout the last Ashes Test series.

Glenn was born in the Australian state of New South Wales on February 9th 1970 and immediately took a shine to Cricket making his debut for his state team in the 1992-93 season, straight away his consistent bowling and his ability to take wickets was evident and it was not long before the Australian national side gave him his 1st cap against New Zealand the following year 1993-94 season.

During my time of watching the strike bowler on his tours to the UK I will always remember his asset of being able to wind up batsmen who he always targeted before Test series games, Atherton was Targeted and disposed of in the late 90’s, then Pieterson a few years back and I know there has been many others that wished he wasn’t bowling at them I’m sure.

His record of being the highest wicket taking fast bowler speaks for itself when you think of all the bowlers of the West Indies of the past Garner Marshall and co.

Although retired he did come back this year to play in the Money bags league of the IPL when he wore the colours of Delhi Dare Devils and it was nice to see him pick up a few wickets as Cricket is never the same when great players like him retire from the game.
