Chennai Super Kings beat Mumbai Indians.

Chennai Super Kings headed by M.S. Dhoni won its second victory in the IPL Cricket. It was the second loss for Mumbai Indians, who missed Sachin Tendulkar due to groin injury. This match was really an exciting and thrilling one until the last over.

Mumbai Indians headed by Harbhajan Singh (in the absence of Sachin) won the toss and elected to field first. Chennai Super Kings’ Mathew Hayden played an exceptional innings by scoring 81 runs off 46 balls (12 boundaries and 2 sixers). Mike Hussey who played well in the previous match got out for a meager 5 runs. Suresh Raina made a good partnership with Mathew Hayden and made 53 runs off 37 balls (3 boundaries and 3 sixers) to his share. The skipper M.S. Dhoni scored 30 runs off 16 balls (4 boundaries and 1 sixer). At the end of 20 overs, Chennai Super Kings scored a challenging score of 208 runs for the fall of 5 wickets.

Chasing the daunting target of 209 runs, the Mumbai Indians started their Innings thru their opening batsmen L. Ronchi and S. Jayasuriya. Jayasuriya just scored 20 runs. Robin Uthappa played a brilliant innings by scoring 43 runs off 36 balls (6 boundaries and 1 sixer). On the other hand Abishek Nayar scored 45 runs and stood unbeaten. Later Harbhajan Singh’s triple sixers helped the Team with some chances to reach the massive target in the remaining few overs. At the end of 20th over, the Mumbai Indians were short of just 6 runs and really missed the Match by a whisker.

Joginder Sharma and Muthiah Muralidharan claimed 2 wickets each. Chennai Super Kings won the match by 6 runs and Mathew Hayden was declared Man of the Match.
